Implant Restorations

Implants in dental treatment have come a long way in the past ten years alone. Evolving technology has produced much better implant materials that more predictably integrate with existing biological tissues for more predictable prognosis. Along with the implant materials, newer bone enhancement technology allows implants to be placed in areas that previously were very high risk of failure with much more confidence today. Additionally, improved imagaging technology allows more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning of implant cases. All of the above technolgical advances work together to provide a very high success rate with dental implants today.

Implants can be used in dental treatment to replace single teeth, a space including several missing teeth, or as a support mechanism for dentures to make the denture very solid and stable. In the replacement of a single or several teeth, the advantage of implants is that the adjacent teeth to the space involving the missing teeth do not have to be drilled on. That is a big plus, especially with younger people or even older people who don’t already have restorations in those teeth.

Benefits:

  • Replace missing teeth without drilling on adjacent teeth
  • Provide more realistic appearance in front (in conjunction with good gum tissue management)
  • Provide support and retention for otherwise sloppy fitting removable appliances
